Case Study – EANM Daily Youth Forum

Pre-COVID, the EANM congress (The European Association of Nuclear Medicine) was attended by more than 6,300 delegates from around the world (even though its supposed to be a ‘European’ meeting.) 50% of attendees are under 35 years of age.

As part of EANM’s strategy to continue attracting the next generation of nuclear scientists to its conferences and congresses, they offer daily lunchtime training sessions on topics of high relevance to young people. Even though this congress is a scientific meeting, a very large number of young delegates choose to attend these career and personal development sessions.

Roy used to deliver three x 90 minute interactive lectures on topics such as:

  • Building a professional network
  • Presentation skills masterclass and
  • “Be Stronger: mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually”

“Be Stronger” which included practical strategies to reduce stress and increase resilience, was the most attended, attracting nearly 500 young (and some not-so-young) delegates. And that was before the pandemic!
